Throughout 2019, we would like to challenge YOU, our partners, on this very question.

The issue of Data and Information Security in industry and business is of utmost significance today. Our ability as partners to effectively address these issues plays a major role in meeting expected standards, avoiding significant penalties and most importantly, in securing our personal and general information and data, as well as those of our employees and clients.

Let’s start by laying the right foundation…
…what are the things that you need to consider when developing and considering the right security solution?

When making the determination of what is required to secure your customer’s data and information whether at rest, in motion, or in use, it is considered best practice follow the NIST (National Institute for Standards and Technology) Framework for managing the needs of industry to access classified information. The NIST framework identifies 5 Functions for consideration when working to determine how to manage the cybersecurity-related risk on valuable assets and be able to effectively prevent, detect and respond to cyber-attacks.

Those Pillars are:

Identify: Develop the organizational understanding to manage cybersecurity risk to systems, assets, data, and capabilities.

Protect: Develop and implement the appropriate safeguards to ensure delivery of critical infrastructure services

Detect: Develop and implement the appropriate activities to identify the occurrence of a cybersecurity event

Respond: Develop and implement the appropriate activities to act regarding a detected cybersecurity event

Recover: Develop and implement the appropriate activities to maintain plans for resilience and to restore any capabilities or services that were impaired due to a cybersecurity event

Over the next few months, the Ingram Micro Cybersecurity team will continue to share with you a variety of relevant content to help you and your teams adequately and effectively support your clients and partners.
