Microsoft Prices are Increasing 5% for Canada – How, Why, and When?

November 6, 2018 Ingram Micro

On December 1, 2018, Microsoft will be adjusting the Canadian pricing for commercial online services. They are making this re-alignment – a 5% increase to the price list – to reflect the global US dollar level. This update will not impact business customers’ existing orders under the volume licensing agreements for products with price projection. However, all distributors, partners, and customers who purchase additional products under certain volume licensing agreements, as well as purchases under new contracts, will be impacted by this price increase. Such products will be subject to the price list at the time of purchase.

Volume licensing program to be impacted come December 1st, 2018:

  • Enterprise Agreement (Commercial, Government, Campus, and Enrollment for Education Solutions)
  • Open Value Agreement (Commercial, Government, and Education Solutions)
  • Agreement (Commercial, Government, and Academic)
  • Cloud Solution Provider (CSP)
  • Syndication
  • Microsoft Subscription Program (Commercial, Government, Not for Profit and Academic)

Given this change, the Microsoft Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) program comes highly recommended by Ingram Micro. If you partner with Ingram Micro, you’ll enjoy several benefits that you wouldn’t receive with other providers or licensing models.  The following are just some of the advantages of Ingram Micro’s Microsoft CSP:

Price Protection with Cloud Solution Provider (CSP)

Existing CSP subscriptions receive price protection during their term which is normally twelve months from the start of paid subscription. Additional CSP adds to your existing Ingram Micro CSP subscription made before December 1st, 2018 will be billed at the previous billing price which remains in place for the remaining twelve-month term.

Resellers and partner who purchase under Ingram Micro’s CSP program before December 1st, they will be locked in with pre-fixed pricing for a full year!

Increase Your Commission

Channel partners only earn 3% margins on Microsoft Office 365 subscriptions with the Ingram Micro Referral Program at the moment. However, under the Cloud Solution Provider program, partners are provided with significantly higher margins! Partners can also leverage Ingram Micro’s new “Cloud Awesome Office 365” program, a promotion that includes extra sales incentives and will boost your Microsoft subscription commissions.

Bundle Other Services

If you’re aiming to increase your revenue with the CSP program, look into adding incremental cloud services. While Office 365 is a great program for your customers to start with, they will likely need bonus programs or services as time goes on and their business grows. The Ingram Micro Cloud Marketplace is a great place to select several cloud services from leading vendors as you can purchase, provision, bundle and sell them in the same place. You can also simplify the services’ billing and management by putting them into ConnectWise or Autotask PSA.

Maintain Possession of Relationships with your Customers

The Microsoft CSP program allows partners to maintain possession of their relationship with their entire customer base. This ownership is a major advantage as other Office 365 programs require partners to pass of their sales, including billing and support, to Microsoft.

This price change for Canadian resellers and partners is an opportunity to think more strategically about your cloud business.  Take advantage of Microsoft billing and its more flexible and cost-effective terms with Ingram Micro indirect CSP. For resellers and partners who are looking for price protection before the December 1st date, we recommend reaching out to the Ingram Micro team to learn more about CSP licensing for Microsoft products like: Office 365, Microsoft Azure, Windows SQL Server, Microsoft 365, Enterprise Mobility + Security Suite, Dynamics 365, Windows 10 – already on the Ingram Micro Cloud Marketplace.

For eligible partners, Ingram Micro’s “Cloud Awesome Office 365” program can help resellers and partner achieve higher margins, automate invoicing and reporting, provide end-user support and most importantly, ensure price protection for the full year.
